Student of the Month

In November, Isaac was selected as student of the month for his class. As far as I can tell, the only difference between this and Principal's Honor Roll is that they don't have to give a speech. Good thing, because there is no way on this planet that Isaac would have opened his mouth in front of all those strangers. As it is, Erik said he sat very uncomfortably through his whole ceremony. (I couldn't make it, as we only got a one day notice, and I had a previous commitment. Thankful, Erik was able to go.) Here are some pictures of the ceremony:

Just as a side note, our kids are very much in the minority hair color-wise, as you can see from this photo. I never think much about it, apart from appreciating the diversity in our community. However, Ezra took me very much aback the other day, when he asked me "Mom, can you dye my hair black?" I said "Why would you want me to do that?" and he told me that he thought black hair was much cooler than blond because his best friends all have black hair. It was an interesting moment, and we had a great discussion about heritage, and where we (and by extension, our hair color) come from, and appreciating our own heritage, as well as our friends'. (I think Ezra still wants black hair, though!)
