California Trip

In the middle of the summer, we took off for a California camping road trip! We met up with the Sorenson family near Sacramento, and then drove down the beautiful California coast. It was so much fun, and always so nice to spend time with one of our favorite families. :)

We took more pictures during this one week by far than we did the rest of our summer trip. Here they are for your enjoyment! (And in no particular order, because blogger doesn't have the easiest way to sort pictures.)

This was the beach near our first campsite in California.

We'd only been camping for one night at this point. We look like we've already been camping a week!

This was a "hike" we stopped at on our drive between campsites. There were some beautiful cliffs along the way.

This is the sunset from our third campsite. It was much more beautiful than the camera really captures.

Sand Dollar beach. It was beautiful, and the water was freezing. (The kids went in almost to the waist, despite the freezing water. I was only brave enough to put my feet in!)

We stopped in Morro Bay and Erik took the boys kayaking. They loved it, and got to see some seals up close, which they enjoyed!

You can see Ezra peeking around the corner in this one. And my kids have this weird thing about picking noses. It's pretty gross.

We got up early that last morning and showered, because we woke up covered in Ants! Our campsite was infested! It was a great way to get me up and moving, though. :)

In honor of Ginny's birthday morning, she and Emma colored their hair with hair chalk.

Also on Ginny's birthday, we spent the night in Las Vegas on the way home.

Ezra was tired, hot, and hungry!

Ginny's birthday dinner was a little pathetic. It consisted of a hot dog. (Everything was expensive in Vegas, and our options were limited.) But she at least got a Blizzard, too, in honor of turning 9 years old!

On our way to California, we stopped at the Salt Flats. We also spotted our first scorpion while stopped here. Ugh!

 

 

This was on a brief "hike" we did to stretch our legs between Reno and Sacramento.

In the evening of our first night camping, we drove to the beach and enjoyed the boardwalk amusement park. Here is Erik and Ezra on the log flume!

And back to the log flume. I really did try to get these pictures in some sort of order, but I gave up. 

I think we might have gotten sprayed more on the sidelines than they did in the log!
